Cleantech Open is...
the oldest and largest cleantech startup accelerator program, with the mission to find, fund, and foster entrepreneurs with ideas to solve our greatest environmental and energy challenges. Through the Cleantech Open's annual business accelerator program, we connect cleantech startups with the people and resources that will accelerate their success, and provide a national platform for public visibility.
The Cleantech Open is a non-profit, startup accelerator that focuses on the clean technology area. It is active across the United States in eight regions and also runs accelerator programs and competitions internationally. Since 2005, the Cleantech Open has awarded over $6 million in cash and services. And the 1000+ companies in the Cleantech Open's accelerator programs have raised more than $1.1 billion in external capital.
Cleantech Open Midwest Covers...
Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. The Cleantech Open Midwest organization, a division within the larger Cleantech Open network, was founded in 2010. Since inception, the Midwest programs have worked with over 90 start-up companies that have gone on to raise over $20 million in external capital.Generally, the Midwest organization focuses on three primary activities:
- Accelerate start-up businesses in structured programs and events
- Partner with local, regional, and national organizations across the innovation ecosystem
- Partner with corporations, governments, foundations and universities to support their innovation goals

Our Strategic Partners
In 2015, the Cleantech Open Midwest formed strategic partnerships with the University of Saint Thomas (MN). Our mutual goal is to provide better opportunities for cleantech entrepreneurship across the Midwest geography through close program and strategic aligment. The sharing of resources and networks is helping us to achieve that goal.
